Common Questions
-
Private and independent K–12 schools with a service-learning, global-citizenship, or community-service program. If your older and younger grades share a campus, you already have what you need to run it.
-
No. Your older students lead the program and you facilitate. It doesn't add a class to the schedule or a subject to your faculty's load.
-
It flexes to your calendar — a weekly session, a service block, or an interim/J-term week. One semester gives each student facilitator roughly 25–30 documented service-learning hours.
-
No. You're the only account holder, and students are never users. There's no student data for your IT or privacy team to vet.
-
Most schools run it virtually — and "remote" doesn't mean hands-off. You work directly with a Shiny Gems facilitator over live video to get certified, plan each part of the program, and talk through how it's going as you go. The coaching stays human. Onsite intensives are available for schools that want us on campus.
-
It depends on the format and size of your program. The fastest way to get a real number is a short call — we'll walk you through the options.
Still have questions?
On the call we'll cover three things: how your service-learning works today and what's hardest about it, what a Shiny Gems semester would look like on your campus, and whether next semester is the right window to start. If it's not a fit, we'll tell you.
