One program. Two transformations.
Nothing new on your teachers' plates.
Shiny Gems runs on a train-the-trainer model. We prepare you, you prepare your students, and your students lead the program for your younger grades. Here's exactly how it works.
THE MODEL
How the program flows
01
We certify you
We train you — whoever owns your service or global-citizenship program — in the Shiny Gems method: the gems, how to coach teen facilitators, and how to run the program start to finish.
02
You train your older students
Using a facilitator kit we provide, you prepare your older students to lead — no media-literacy expertise required on their part.
03
Your students deliver it to younger grades
We train you — whoever owns your service or global-citizenship program — in the Shiny Gems method: the gems, how to coach teen facilitators, and how to run the program start to finish.
WHAT A SEMESTER LOOKS LIKE
PLAN. ACT. REFLECT
Each cycle follows the same rhythm: your facilitators plan with you, act by leading a session, and reflect afterward in their own words. That reflection does double duty — it deepens the learning and becomes the documentation your service-learning program already requires
CURRICULUM SNAPSHOT
A curriculum built on strengths, not platforms
The program is a set of gem modules, each anchored in a character strength — creativity, beauty, hope, patience, and more. That's what makes it teachable by a teenager instead of an expert, and keeps it relevant to any platform, this year or next.
Each gem is brought to life with an original short film we produced — live action, animation, hand-drawn, stop-motion. They're short springboards: your students watch, then lead the conversation. Media literacy taught with thoughtful media, not just talk about it.

Nothing for your IT or privacy team to vet
You're the only account holder; students are never users — they lead from projected materials. No student data flows to us, so there's no data-sharing agreement to negotiate and no privacy review to clear. You can say yes without a committee.
Service hours that actually hold up
Filling service hours is easy; filling them with something substantive — and documenting the quality — is the hard part. Shiny Gems does both: one semester delivers roughly 25–30 reflection-rich hours per facilitator, the plan → act → reflect structure satisfies the quality mandate, and your students' reflections double as your hour-verification paperwork.
Two ways to run it
Default
Virtual
Most schools run it virtually. You work directly with a Shiny Gems facilitator over live video — we certify you, help you plan, and reflect with you as it runs — while everything happens on your own campus. The support stays human throughout.
Add-on
Onsite
For schools that want it, we can deliver an in-person intensive. Available as an add-on.
Talk through the right fit for your school.
Running just an elementary or middle school?
If you don't have older students to train, you can license the Shiny Gems curriculum and run it internally with your own Grade 4–8 teachers. Reach out and we'll point you to the right option.
